Age is not a disease and it’s not a reason to avoid pursuing care for an animal that may be in pain. In the case of pain, there’s a lot we can do to help. Some treatment options are expensive. Others, not so much. A ‘pain med trial’ is an easy and relatively inexpensive intervention that can greatly improve an animal’s quality of life. If the pet shows improvement it can also help the caregivers in deciding on other treatment options to consider in the multimodal approach to arthritis care.
